THE MISSION PACK

Prior to the launch of The Curse of Ra Fun Club, my only contact with Philippe Mussler had been in connection with writing hints for the most difficult levels of the game. But once we had an official club website, Philippe became a member and dropped in at several group chats. It was during these chat sessions that Philippe divulged his plans for a sequel to "The Curse of Ra." Several ideas were discussed, including different environments for the game, for eg. ancient Greece and the Roman Empire.

Level from the Mission Pack, Ra's Revenge. With such a wide range of member's levels in the file cabinet, we suggested using some of the best ones for the sequel. This appealed to Philippe and he decided to make a "Mission Pack" comprised of members' levels, which would serve as an add-on for the original game.

As the manager of the club and having played all the 600+ levels in the file cabinet, I was asked to pick 50 levels for the sequel based on Philippe's criteria, which were namely that the levels should be in ascending order of difficulty, well-constructed and have original layouts.

Philippe's final choice was 45 levels made by 18 members, the remaining Level from the Mission Pack, Ra's Revenge. 5 levels have been made by him. He has designed many new tiles for the sequel and given the levels a new look by replacing most of the old tiles with the new ones. He has also chosen the backgrounds for each level and renamed them as befitting the sequel's plot. In addition, he reserved the right to modify any of the levels if he deemed it necessary.

The Mission Pack has been released under the title "Ra's Revenge" and is available for download from Usedstar's site.

SEVERAL MORE MISSION PACKS HAVE BEEN RELEASED

Since then there have been launched 5 more Mission Packs. First "Ra's Empire", then "Ra's Vegas", "The Junior Editon", "The Expert Edition" and finally (but not the last!) "Roman Invasion". So if you are addicted to this kind of brain workout, there should be a lot to choose from. Download from Usedstar's site.
